What do you think of the transition of red from the fall collections, to spring, in the way of color blocking and brights?

A favorite fall trend of mine is the chunky knit sweater. Coming in all colors and knit styles, the thick boyfriend sweater is the perfect outerwear piece for fall's preppy look. In the first collage is two sweaters from Alexander Wang's fall collection, second are by McQ, Marc Jacobs, and Missoni, and lastly are both by Urban Outfitters.
I just bought the cream cable knit sweater in the last collage, and its the comfiest thing ever, just $68.

Fall is all about layering this season, especially with neutral tones, like the light pinks and nudes seen at Rodarte. Layering doesn't just mean a heavy jacket over a thermal, it means layering any piece of clothing, like two dresses over each other. Above with the look from Rodarte FW 10 are two examples of how I think layering should be done this season. First is a look from the streets of Japan, a knee length cream dress over cuffed jeans with socks and platforms, all in natural tones. Sasha Pivovarova opts for darker shades, with a jersey wrap around long sleeves and paired with flats and crew socks. For the full layering report of fall, check out my article about the trend on The Fashion Spot here.

On the runway this fall 2010 season, red was everywhere, seen all across the board, from New York to Paris, mainly in Paris. Red was a prominent color in several collections, including Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Burberry Prorsum, Comme Des Garçons, and several others. There were deep, harsh reds, while at Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs showed muted reds, almost pinks in a stunning plaid, a simple dress, and a gown. At Bottega Veneta, there were reds mixed in with pinks, in soft leathers. At Comme Des Garçons, Rei Kawakubo incorporated red by using plaids on her coats, tops, and shorts. Christopher Bailey used deep burgundies on dresses and furs.
At Prada, Miuccia Prada used knitwear to incorporate red into her collection. In Paris, Wolfgang Joop also used red prominently in his collection. There were bright red blazers and reds mixed into plenty of other pieces. Riccardo Tisci looked to the colors of the Bauhaus for inspiration, mainly red, white, and black. Maison Martin Margiela was much more wearable this season, including a fabulous asymmetrical bright red coat, one side camel, one side red trench.
Dolce & Gabbana had a similar feel to their fall collection as they did to spring, sexy, yet still covered and conservative, with deep red hues mixed with lace, and feminine cuts. Finally, Marc Jacobs used red for a simple military feel in his collection for Marc by Marc Jacobs, with stripes and a perfectly fitted red military style jacket.
