Here's a quick little outfit post for you, mixing some of my favorite new dark printed items. I bought these trousers recently mainly because of the dark floral brocade print. Dark florals that are in right now have really caught my eye, its a whole new way to wear floral prints, I believe.
Resort 2013 has been on mind these days...now that the fall collections are all on sale and spring isn't quite out yet. I did a round up of some pieces that caught my eye, available on my favorite online shops. I'm feeling pastels, texture, simple prints, and super sunglasses.
Just another daily outfit idea, with an updated take on french stripes, layers, and a sparkly statement flat. My favorite example of a statement flat are Charlotte Olympia's new glitter kitty flats. Too cute to handle.
Today's outfit is heavily inspired by the dark dots and layering of Haider Ackermann S/S 13. I like the idea of a strctured, comfy trouser these days, paired with a loose blouse. The dark hues of Haider Ackmermann's collection is what really drew me in, so I thought I'd translate it to something I'd actually wear. I threw in a bit of a less preppy twist, by adding my new favorite boots from Topshop. They're just western enough without being too costumey.
Hey pals, I've decided that since I recently got a new camera, I'm going to start posting outfit photos again. (It is mostly due to laziness though, not the lack of a good camera.) Anyhow, this is what I wore today. Lately I've been into stripes and boots, so I married the two here with overalls and tights, since it was actually cold today in LA! I added a hat to top off the child of the 90s/rock and roll situation I have going on between denim overalls and leather boots. My favorite pair of boots currently are the Modern Vice x Natalie and Dylana Suarez "Jett" boots in black. They are actually the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned, I didn't even need to break them in. That is a first when it comes to good leather boots, seriously!
The holiday sweater, do you love it, do you hate it? I've never been one to partake in the holiday sweater wearing tradition, or as of late, the "ugly-holiday-sweater" parties, but I saw this red embroidered Meadham Kirchoff sweater, and thought I'd think of some ways to wear it.
Yes, the sweater might be over the top by itself, but the first thing I'd do is pair it with a pair of jeans (A.P.C.) and a cool leather jacket, like this Acne one. Keep the cool dressed down look going with a pair of vintage edition Nike blazers. Yes, this might be a ballsy move, but remember, you'll be the only person wearing your wacky sweater like this. If you want to take it a step further, layer a striped top (by Proenza Schouler) underneath the red sweater to add a little print sitch.
Next approach: Go the typical shiny holiday outfit route, but update it with a punchy silver metallics and light denim. What? Light denim? You're probably thinking it can only be worn in the spring time, but hey, why not wear it now. This light blue Rachel Comey pair to the far right plays off of the blues and silvers in the sweater quite well. And to keep your shiny shiny thing going, pair with a utterly awesome silver shoe, like this ASOS pair or McQ creeper. Then bring it all together with a classic black bag, I chose Proenza Schouler PSII.
Something I just cannot get out of my head these days, STRIPES. I seem to create whole outfits based on just one thing, the classic breton stripe top. I bring to you how I would style a simple top like this, with Hope's Byronesse Top, with a cool asymmetrical stripe situation going on. I've also discovered something new about myself when it comes to denim, I'm not always for skinny jeans anymore. I have now explored uncharted pant territory, and I think I'd like to try a boyish fit with these Junya Watanabe cropped jeans. Next, I'd add a red cardigan, like this La Garçonne Moderne slouchy one, for that necessary pop. And ah, those finishing touches. I like the Mulberry Small Bryn bag (which I just recently purchased), because it is just the right size, small, yet has a lot of depth. Then, a neo-hiking boot like the Acne Jordan boots, which I just snapped up on sale at Barney's, are an interesting twist for a very simple and understated outfit. And if you're in a sunny place this winter, I suggest these super rad Illesteva x Zac Posen cat eyes frames that were available for pre-order during NYFW on Moda Operandi (which I did too, woops!).
Finally getting back into the groove of school..but its been so hot! So I like to wear something like this, a dress and jean jacket so it is bearable. Also, animal print is super cute this fall, and I like to incorporate it in a sort of 90s grunge way.
